SHAKERS REACH LEAGUE CUP FINAL

Ramshackle director Gavin Hickup could not hide his excitement when the club won their semifinal game against cup-giant Bedford Athletic.
The club has been far from any trophies in their history, playing division 2 football for many years. The ultimate low moment came when the club relegated to Division 3 in 2009.
Their manager Donald Killing was fired, and former Covenham manager Collin “Boner” Cock took his place. He was given a huge hand from the club and community. With great care the club started to replace players and staff with people who were genuine interested to re-build the club, and move it to a higher level.
And the fans have been astonishing through the whole process. Showing their loyalty by filling the stadium completely at every home game since the 2009/2010 season.
In 2013 they promoted back to Division 2, and reached play-off in their very first season. They lost in play-off, but reached it once more the next season. Unfortunately they lost again. But the very next season they won the division and promoted to the top level.
Since then (from 16/17 season) they’ve been in Division 1, slowly getting better and better.
Today they are at 5th place, battling for silverware and a place among the best teams in Europe.

Director Gavin Hickup has revealed to Daily News that he has ordered an extension of their ground Soffield. The ground holds only 12 360 spectators today.
